The Department of International Trade began its education by accepting its first students in the 2013-2014 academic year. The primary goal of the department is to train human resources in the field of trade who possess modern knowledge in light of current developments in the Turkish and global economy, who can think internationally, and who can take on active roles in a globally competitive environment. Because trade has a distinct place and importance in our culture, just as it does in many cultures. Trade, which began with human history, continues today and will always exist in the future.

However, the rules of trade have always been rewritten, and with globalization, trade and its rules have been carried to a brand new dimension. In today's world, where the mobility of goods and services has reached dizzying speeds, professionals managing this process need to have not only theoretical knowledge but also operational competence in the field. The Department of International Trade within the Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences (BUBFA) at Balıkesir University trains future trade experts with its strong academic staff, strategic location, and practice-oriented education model.
The most fundamental feature that distinguishes our international trade department from its peers is its institutional culture along with the competence of its academic staff. Among the priorities prioritized by this culture, many factors can be listed, such as keeping communication channels open between students and faculty members, accessibility, and the desire and competence to solve problems on-site and quickly.
Our educational staff, consisting of Professors and Assistant Professors who specialize in their fields and contribute to national and international literature, and our educational curriculum have been shaped according to the real needs of the sector. Our students:
* Core Areas: Introduction to Economics, General Business, Basic Concepts of Law, General Accounting, General Mathematics.
* Specialization Areas: They gain theoretical infrastructure and master the terminology of the business world through courses such as Foreign Trade Transactions, Customs Legislation, International Marketing, Logistics Management, International Sales Management, Supply Chain, and Vocational Foreign Language.

The aim is to raise well-equipped individuals who "know what to do" when they graduate. In addition, if our students wish to do internships, necessary support is provided by our institution.
For International Trade education, location is not just a geographical detail, but a part of the education. Our faculty is located in Burhaniye, on Turkey's most important industrial and trade axis that connects the Marmara and Aegean regions. Our department is in the position of a complete "Logistics Base" with its proximity to the Çanakkale Bridge connections, İzmir and North Aegean ports, and organized industrial zones in surrounding provinces (Manisa, Bursa, İzmir). This strategic advantage greatly contributes to students observing the flow of trade on-site, getting to know the sector through technical trips, and accessing internship opportunities in strong regional companies.
The "Accommodation" problem, which is the biggest concern of prospective students and their families when choosing a university, does not exist on our Burhaniye campus. In the location where our faculty is situated, there are high-capacity female and male student dormitories belonging to the Higher Education Credit and Hostels Institution (KYK). The fact that the dormitories are within walking distance or in easily accessible locations provides great comfort and time savings for our students. Furthermore, our BUBYO hotel, located within the Faculty, also offers accommodation services.
Burhaniye is a complete student city with its safe streets, economical living conditions, clean air, sea, and social amenities. We offer a peaceful campus environment where you can focus entirely on your classes and personal development, far from the chaos and high living costs of big cities.
Our department, bearing the name "International," encourages its students to become global citizens. Thanks to the Erasmus+ agreements our university has signed with reputable universities in many European countries, our students have the chance to spend a semester of their education abroad and get to know different cultures. Students who graduate from our department step into business life by taking the title of "International Trade Specialist." Our graduates, who have a wide range of employment opportunities, can work as specialists or auditors in:

* Foreign trade departments of export and import companies
* Customs Consultancy firms
* International logistics and shipping companies
* Foreign transaction and foreign exchange services of banks
* Chambers of Commerce and Industry
* Relevant public institutions (Ministry of Trade, etc.)

Balıkesir University Department of International Trade awaits competitive leadership candidates who are committed to ethical values, can read the world, and think analytically. Build your future at the intersection of trade.
